Sustainability

We're committed to working towards a greener future for our company and the wider floral industry. To learn more about our plans, including the 22 goals we are aiming to achieve by 2025, read The Big Green Plan.

Key Updates

For our manufactured product lines, 51% now have fully recyclable plastic components. 25% have some recyclable components, and there are still some lines we’re working to convert.

We've made huge progress with this goal with help from our waste partners ACM. Almost all of our waste now gets recycled or sent to energy recovery. We’re getting very close to zero waste to landfill
status so watch this space!

By converting OASIS® Naylorbase® Floral Bases to recycled plastic, by the end of 2021 we were using 65% fewer virgin plastic components in our manufacturing than at the start of the year.

Useful Definitions

With different terminology flying around, it can be tricky to know what you’re looking for! Here are some quick definitions to help you decide what kind of products you want to use:

Recyclable – A material that can be recycled can be re-engineered into something new, instead of going to landfill. Some materials are easier to recycle than others, and in the UK, the recycling facilities available depends on where you live – you can check your area here:  Recycling Locator

Biodegradable – A material that can be broken down by microorganisms into organic matter. How long something takes to break down can depend on the material itself and conditions such as temperature and humidity. Even a banana skin, for example, can take up to two years to biodegrade!

Compostable – Similar to biodegradable but going one step further, compostable materials provide nutrients to soil once they have broken down. Products may be certified OK compost INDUSTRIAL or OK compost HOME - or both.
